 Sustainable Architecture For Gwynn's Island

Gwynn's IslandDedicated to the concept that "Sustainable Architecture" is a perfect solution to protect the beauty and environment of the Gwynn's Island. What is Sustainable Architecture you ask? It is Architecture designed to be self-supporting therefore having a minimal impact on the environment. "Green Architecture" is more often mentioned, however Sustainable Architecture is a more complete, self-sufficient design with minimal impact on the environment. Regardless, good environmental design will go a long way to assure that Gwynn's Island will be enjoyed by our children and grandchildren in the same light that we see the island today.

Because a large portion of the Gwynn's Island supports seasonal cottages the inherent limited use of a cottage creates the perfect test bed for Sustainable Architecture. In the months to come research and design of a cottage based on Sustainable Architecture to be constructed on the island will be presented.

Your participation in sustainable design research is encouraged. Please submit any links for any resources you may have about Sustainable or Green Architecture that may be of interest directly by clicking here: Add Link or email me at Edward J. Bass, AIA
